Wedding Planning

Mike and I have officially entered the world of wedding planning! And, wow, what a world it is. One of my best friends just got married this past May and I was fortunate enough to be a part of it as her maid of honor. I heard about things like caterers and cake tastings and seating charts and even got to participate in things like dress shopping and creating a registry. It was surprisingly fun...but she fooled me. She made everything look so effortless and simple. I, on the other hand, have just started taking baby steps into the wedding realm and am already overwhelmed! However, I am determined to be organized and enjoy this time as we prepare the details of the day we become husband and wife. (And I will keep repeating this to myself, possibly even out loud, every time I get stressed and get upset at Mike for not being excited to share his opinion on fascinating things like how the napkins should be folded.) We have decided that the most important things to figure out first is the when and the where; after that everything else will fall into place, hopefully. So armed with spreadsheets, tables, folders and sub-folders we have bravely set out on our way to finding a wedding venue that is perfect for us. There is no doubt in my mind that we will figure this all out and have a wedding that we both will enjoy and look back on with great memories!

Intro

So this is it, our first post. Or more accurately, my first post since I will be doing most of the blogging. My hope for this is to give our friends and family near and far a way of following the happenings in our lives as we transition from an engaged couple living one hundred miles apart to a married couple making a home for ourselves. Expect details of wedding planning (and gripes about wedding planning), the status of various home improvement projects (and gripes about home improvement) and general details about the events in our lives.

First off, a little about ourselves just in case somebody random stumbles across this and wants to know or in case any of the people that know us need a refresher course. My name is Leslie. I'm currently living in Bethesda, Maryland and working in a DC law firm as a Litigation Docket Clerk (after 4 years, I'm still not exactly sure what that means). My other half's name is Michael. He lives in Bear, Delaware and works as a Civil Designer in the engineering field. We have been together for 2 years and recently became engaged in April. We are pretty laid back, normal people who love to do everything from hiking and camping in the great outdoors, to cuddling up together to watch a movie on the couch, to going out for a night on town. We believe that one of the most important things in a relationship is being able to laugh with and at each other and we practice this daily.

Mike and I are very excited to begin this journey together and we look forward to sharing that adventure with you.
